Our paper told us they were'nt having a firework show in our town. So we thought about going to Nashville to watch at their Titan football stadium, but decided it would be too much money. So we heard about Mt. Juliet's celebration on the radio and decided to go their. But at 6:00 it started to pour down rain. We had only brought a blanket so we decided to drive back home and get chairs. Then just drive back to Brentwood for their fireworks. Which was only 15 minutes away from our house.
Because of the rain they started their show an hour earlier. So when we got to Brentwood the street was already blocked. And when we saw the fireworks we quickly followed the crowd and pulled over at the gas station. There was about 30 families that did the same thing. Most of them just stood out of their cars, but we got our chairs out. We were a mile away from the park and couldn't see some of them because of the tall trees. Our kids were so mad but we said look around, lots of families were just like us. So on the way back to Thompson Station we stopped at the firework stand. We got some sparklers and snaps to do.
As we pulled into our driveway the sky was ablazed with neighbors letting off huge fireworks. The real ones that go up 200 feet. So we saw a great show, several of them in fact.
It was beautiful. And then the rain started at our house.
Our kids enjoyed the sparklers and ended up feeling really good about our first year of celebrating the 4th without family close by. They are already making plans for next year. But the good news is we don't have to wait a year. Tennessee does fireworks for New Years too.
It was beautiful. And then the rain started at our house.
